Marie-Paule Belle, the French singer-songwriter best known for her 1970s hit "La Parisienne," has died at the age of 80. She passed away on July 25, 2026, in Neuilly-sur-Seine near Paris, following a long illness.
Belle had been battling cancer, a struggle she addressed publicly in a 2024 poem titled "KO!" Born on January 25, 1946, in Pont-Sainte-Maxence, she rose to prominence in the 1970s with songs such as "Wolfgang et moi" and "La Parisienne," the latter co-written with Françoise Mallet-Joris and Michel Grisolia. The track earned her a gold disc in 1977, and she performed at the Olympia the following year.
Over five decades, Belle released 25 original albums between 1969 and 2019. Her most recent album, "Un soir entre mille," came out in 2024.
