A 32-year-old woman in southern France has been presented to an investigating judge for murder charges following the discovery of five dead infants in an apartment in Orange, authorities said.
The remains were found in five boxes by the woman's partner, consisting of the skeletal remains of four infants and the body of one newborn, a judicial investigation for murder has been opened. The babies died between April 2018 and October 2025, according to reports.
The partner, also 32, was released from custody after questioning. The woman gave birth to a healthy baby on Sunday, who has been placed in provisional care, while the couple's two other children, aged 8 and 9, have been taken in by relatives.
