Kavinsky, the French DJ and producer best known for his synthesiser-driven hit "Nightcall" from the film Drive, has died at the age of 50. The musician, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, was found lifeless in his apartment in Paris's 18th arrondissement on Tuesday evening.
The Paris prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to determine the cause of death, though emergency responders found no suspicious circumstances at the scene. Kavinsky was due to turn 51 on 31 July, just days after his body was discovered.
Kavinsky rose to international prominence through his contribution to the Drive soundtrack and performed alongside Belgian singer Angèle at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. His death has drawn attention across European media, with outlets in multiple countries reporting the news on Wednesday.
