Former Bundesliga striker Markus Beierle has died at the age of 54, following the death of former West Germany goalkeeper Manfred Manglitz earlier this week.

Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed Beierle's passing on Tuesday, citing his family. The club said he scored 13 goals in 50 appearances after joining from Hansa Rostock in 2003 and was instrumental in Frankfurt's Bundesliga promotions in 2003 and 2005. He moved to Darmstadt 98 in the summer of 2005.

Across his career, Beierle amassed 123 top-flight appearances and 32 Bundesliga goals. He began his career at lower-league sides TSV Cleebronn and Union Böckingen before a move to MSV Duisburg in 1998 yielded 21 goals in 59 league matches. Beierle ended his playing days at SC Dortelweil in 2015.
