Five pilots were targeted by laser beams during their final approach to Brussels Airport in a series of incidents overnight between Friday and Saturday, air traffic control and police said.
The five episodes occurred above the municipality of Dilbeek, with the first recorded at 21:45 on Friday and the last at 02:43 on Saturday, according to Skeyes, Belgium's air navigation service. Local police dispatched a patrol after being alerted by airport authorities but failed to locate the source of the beams, Commissioner Koen Luppens said.
Laser incidents at Belgian airports have risen sharply: 169 cases were logged in 2025, an 80 percent increase over the previous year. The latest episode comes as roughly 40 families from Dilbeek, Lennik and Roosdaal filed suit against the Belgian state over noise pollution linked to a new approach route.
