A father and his six-year-old daughter died on Tuesday morning after their tractor slipped on a grassy slope and overturned in Satteins, a village in the western Austrian state of Vorarlberg. The victim's four-year-old daughter, who was seated in a child seat attached to the tractor, survived with minor injuries.
The mother of the children discovered the accident site hours later after the family failed to return and alerted emergency services. The injured girl was airlifted to a regional hospital, and a crisis intervention team was deployed. Local firefighters called the scene psychologically devastating. Investigators are examining the tractor.
The accident site in the Zwischentobel area was cordoned off while authorities worked, and Mayor Andreas Dobler pledged financial support for the family.
