The European Union imposed new sanctions on six Iranian nationals, including five regional revolutionary court judges and a hacker, over human rights violations, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced on July 24, 2026.
The five judges presided over proceedings against religious minorities and political dissidents, including Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi. The sixth individual targeted is Nima Salehi, founder of the Ashiyane hacking group, whose firm Ashiyane Digital Security collaborates with Iran's cyber police and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The measures bring the EU's Iran-related sanctions list to 269 individuals and 53 entities. Penalties include asset freezes, EU travel bans, and a prohibition on exporting internal repression equipment.
