Iran executed Mohammad Amini Dehaghani on Wednesday after the Supreme Court upheld his conviction for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a governor's office and attacking a police station during protests in January.
Dehaghani, who was hanged on 15 July, was found guilty of setting fire to the district governor's building in Dehaqan, Isfahan province, on 9 January. His execution brings to 22 the number of protesters put to death in connection with the demonstrations since the start of the year, while authorities have also executed 13 people linked to banned opposition groups and 12 convicted of espionage or collaboration with foreign states.
The death toll from the unrest remains disputed: Iranian authorities place it at 3,117, while HRANA says it has verified 7,007 deaths.
