Deutsche Bahn to ban alcohol consumption at all 5,400 stations across Germany

· Business DEU

Deutsche Bahn plans to ban alcohol consumption at all 5,400 railway stations across Germany, with full implementation expected by Oct. 15, the company confirmed to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

The prohibition covers direct consumption on platforms and in station halls, though licensed station restaurants may continue serving drinks and passengers may carry sealed alcoholic beverages in bags. Previously, consumption bans applied only at roughly 30 major stations, including Hamburg, Cologne, and Munich. Local station regulations will be updated in coordination with municipalities and authorities in the coming weeks.

DB security personnel and federal police will enforce the rule, with violators facing expulsion or a full station ban.
