Deutsche Bahn is rolling out a new immediate action programme aimed at improving customer communication, the third and final package in a broader effort to enhance the travel experience. The state-owned railway operator plans to invest an additional 50 million euros in modern IT and artificial intelligence by the end of 2027, with AI deployed to improve delay forecasts and process disruption data more rapidly in control centres.
An AI assistant named Kiana is expected to be available on the DB website and in the DB Navigator app by year-end, while a new DB Info app delivering real-time updates will launch in December. Platform changes should appear in the Navigator app within about two seconds instead of the current 60.
The programme follows earlier initiatives targeting station safety and onboard comfort, which included doubling cleaning staff on trains and investing an extra 20 million euros annually. Around 1,400 stations — twice last year's number — are slated for deep-cleaning sweeps.
