Denmark's Helena Rosendahl Bach takes silver in 200m butterfly at European championships

Helena Rosendahl Bach won silver in the 200-metre butterfly at the long-course European Championships in Paris, finishing in 2:06.14 — a personal and Nordic record. The defending European champion trailed Britain's Keanna Macinnes by 0.24 seconds, with Spain's Laura Cabanes Garzas taking bronze.

The medal was Denmark's first of the championships and marked Bach's third consecutive podium finish in the event at long-course Europeans — silver in 2022, gold in 2024, and silver in 2026. She had qualified for the final as the second-fastest semifinalist, just 0.08 seconds off the pace.

Despite the result, national team director Thomas Stub assessed that Denmark fell well short of its ambitions at the Paris meet, where the team reached two finals and nine semi-finals while setting 10 national and six Nordic records. Denmark now turns to the short-course World Championships in Beijing in December.
