The defense in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy began presenting witnesses on Monday after the prosecution rested its case following testimony from more than 70 witnesses. Clancy, 36, admitted to killing her three children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023, but her defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and cannot be found guilty of murder.
Clancy's mother, Paula Musgrove, testified that Clancy told her she had thoughts of harming the children and described a deteriorating condition in late 2022, including weight loss and paranoia. Clancy's sister, Allison Ozga, testified she learned of Clancy's suicidal thoughts and feelings of hopelessness. A digital forensic expert said Clancy searched online for ketamine and antidepressant information in the days before the killings.
Judge William Sullivan denied a defense motion to reduce the charges. A prosecution psychiatrist testified Clancy never appeared psychotic during 14 telehealth appointments.
