Danske Bank raises full-year forecast after strong second-quarter profit

· Business DNK

Danske Bank raised its 2026 full-year profit forecast to between 23 billion and 25 billion crowns, up from a prior range of 22 to 24 billion, after posting a second-quarter net profit that beat analyst expectations. The bank reported a net profit of roughly 6 billion crowns for the quarter, up from about 5.5 billion in the same period a year earlier, exceeding the 5.92 billion consensus estimate.

CEO Carsten Egeriis described the half-year performance as delivering "strong financial results" and said the bank can continue rewarding shareholders despite heavy investment plans. He also dismissed what he called a competitor's "scare campaign," saying he sees no signs of the threat that has disrupted the broader financial sector materializing.

Net interest income rose to 9.33 billion crowns from 9.06 billion a year earlier, though that missed the average analyst forecast. Total quarterly income increased by more than 1 billion crowns compared with a year earlier, while operating costs remained flat. The bank projects total annual income somewhat above 59 billion crowns.
