Danish foreign minister's son ends advisory role at British arms firm Babcock

Bergur Løkke Rasmussen, son of Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, has ended his advisory role with British defence contractor Babcock, which is competing for a multibillion-kroner contract to supply new frigates to the Danish armed forces.

His appointment in June drew sharp criticism from opposition lawmakers. Dansk Folkeparty defence spokesperson Alex Ahrendtsen called the arrangement "pure nepotism," while Dennis Flydtkjær of the Denmark Democrats described it as "poor judgment." Rasmussen's role reportedly involved liaising with Danish politicians and ministries, and lobby sources suggested he could have earned a double-digit million-kroner sum from the engagement.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen rejected the criticism, saying he does not interfere and lacks detailed knowledge of his son's work. Babcock, which had sought to downplay the collaboration, is one of five defence firms vying for the frigate order.
