Crans-Montana bar owner held in custody over alleged domestic violence

· Society CHE

Jacques Moretti, the owner of the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, has been placed in pre-trial detention on charges of domestic violence against his wife, Jessica Moretti.

The alleged assault took place at the couple's home in the Valais region during the night of 11–12 August, and the injuries Jessica Moretti sustained were serious enough to require hospitalisation. The domestic violence case is not directly linked to the separate criminal proceedings stemming from the New Year's fire at Le Constellation.

Jacques and Jessica Moretti are among 16 defendants facing charges of manslaughter, arson by negligence, and grievous bodily harm in connection with the 1 January 2026 blaze, which killed 41 people and injured 115 others, many of them teenagers and young adults, including Italian and French nationals.
