Cambrex breaks ground on $30 million R&D facility at Milan site

· Business ITA

Cambrex has begun construction of a new research and development facility at its Milan, Italy, manufacturing site, the company announced, committing $30 million to expand its pharmaceutical development capabilities in the country.

The company acquired additional land adjacent to the existing site to accommodate the project. The expansion is expected to be completed in the second half of 2027, Cambrex said.

The investment coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Cambrex Profarmico Milano site, one of the company's longest-operating European facilities. Cambrex, a contract development and manufacturing organisation serving the pharmaceutical industry, operates the Milan site as a key node in its global network of active pharmaceutical ingredient production and drug-product development.
