Prysmian has signed a long-term supply agreement worth up to €5.5 billion with Molex, a unit of U.S.-based Koch Industries, to provide optical cables for data centers. The deal spans up to 10 years and includes a €550 million advance payment.
The Italian cable maker plans to invest €1.25 billion through 2031 to expand fiber and optical cable production capacity, more than doubling its U.S. fiber output. The investment is expected to create over 1,000 jobs globally, including 600 in the United States.
The Molex contract is part of a broader push by Prysmian to supply hyperscalers and data center operators, a strategy the company says will generate more than €10 billion in cumulative incremental revenue by 2035 compared with 2025 levels, adding up to €1.1 billion in annual revenue from 2031.
