Ansaldo Energia has signed a contract to supply eight AE64.3A gas turbines and generators to Pacifico Energy for a data centre in Texas, marking the Italian manufacturer's return to the US new-build power generation market after more than three decades.
The turbines, configured for 60 Hz operation, are scheduled for initial delivery in 2027. The AE64.3A model has more than 70 units installed globally, accumulating over four million equivalent operating hours.
Stefano Gianatti, Ansaldo Energia's executive vice president for thermal new units, said the project underscores the role of flexible gas-fired power generation in supporting the expansion of digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence.
