Milton Nascimento, the 83-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter widely regarded as one of the defining voices of Música Popular Brasileira, has been hospitalised since Thursday with pneumonia, the episode described as a common complication given his current health condition.
A statement published on his social media channels said Nascimento remains stable and is showing good clinical progress, with doctors expecting to discharge him in the coming days so he can continue treatment at home.
The hospitalisation comes against a backdrop of ongoing health challenges. Nascimento was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in October 2025 and has been living with Parkinson's disease since 2023.
