Brazil's Supreme Court has imposed new restrictions on former President Jair Bolsonaro, banning social visits for 30 days and blocking a requested visit from Argentine President Javier Milei planned for July 25.
Justice Alexandre de Moraes suspended Bolsonaro's visitation rights on Friday after Senator Flávio Bolsonaro shared a letter on social media in which the former president endorsed his son's presidential candidacy. The judge also banned political or electoral visits until after October elections and barred Bolsonaro from issuing political manifestos. Flávio Bolsonaro, who faces Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the October 4 first round, is barred from visiting his father for 90 days.
The Prosecutor General's Office had recommended maintaining house arrest despite the violation. Bolsonaro, 71, is serving a 27-year sentence for a coup plot under house arrest due to health reasons, recovering from bacterial pneumonia.
