Brazil's Supreme Court has authorized former President Jair Bolsonaro to resume receiving visits at his house arrest in Brasília, ending a 30-day suspension imposed after his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, posted a letter from the ex-president on social media.
Justice Alexandre de Moraes permitted sons Carlos and Jair Renan Bolsonaro to visit permanently, as both are running for congressional seats in October elections. However, Flávio Bolsonaro remains barred from visiting for 90 days, a restriction set in July that extends past the first election round. The judge maintained bans on visits with political-electoral purposes and prohibited the dissemination of campaign manifestos, even through third parties.
Bolsonaro, convicted last September to 27 years in prison for attempted coup d'état, must comply with restrictions including no social media use or indirect communication. Moraes warned that violations could result in revocation of house arrest.
