Arson suspected after fire destroys row houses near Stockholm

· Society SWE

Police suspect arson after a fast-moving fire engulfed a row-house block in Norsborg, south of Stockholm, on Sunday. All residents were evacuated without injury, authorities said.

The alarm sounded around 13:14, and firefighters arriving minutes later found flames already breaking through the roof. The blaze spread from the house of origin to a neighbouring unit, leaving two properties damaged, with the original home completely destroyed. Investigators suspect that an accelerant was thrown onto the building.

Police have opened a probe into aggravated public endangerment and flammables offences, and the surrounding block remains cordoned off as forensic work begins. Fire crews declared the blaze extinguished by mid-afternoon.
