Partial roof collapse at Swedish shopping centre prompts evacuation

A section of the roof at Torp Shopping Centre in Uddevalla, Sweden, collapsed onto a candy store on Saturday morning, triggering an evacuation of the building's staff.

Emergency services received the alarm at around 08:20 local time on 18 July 2026. Fredrik Wändel, the centre's manager, confirmed that part of the roof had caved in. The collapse ruptured a sprinkler pipe, causing water to leak into the premises below. SOS Alarm stated that all personnel were evacuated from the building, and no ambulance was dispatched to the scene, indicating no injuries were reported.

The extent of the structural damage and the cause of the collapse were not immediately detailed by authorities.
