Woman killed, six injured in two-car collision in southern Italy

A woman in her late 60s died and six others were injured, including three young children, when two cars collided on a provincial road between Bitonto and Giovinazzo near Bari, Italy, at approximately 01:00 local time on 26 July 2026.

The victim was travelling with three children and a man in one of the vehicles. The youngest child, a four-month-old infant, was admitted to a Bari hospital's neurosurgery unit with skull fractures, while a four-year-old suffered a broken collarbone and internal bruising, and a seven-year-old sustained rib fractures. The three injured adults were taken to hospitals in Bari, and none of the wounded are believed to be in life-threatening condition.

Carabinieri officers responded to the scene and both vehicles involved have been impounded as part of the investigation into the crash.
