A woman in her 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life following a house fire in Gloucestershire that killed a woman in her 90s.
Emergency services were called to a property on Elmgrove Road West in Hardwicke shortly before 04:00 BST on Sunday, where they found the elderly woman unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, who is from Gloucester, remains in police custody as investigators continue inquiries at the address.
Gloucestershire Police said the two women knew each other and are treating the incident as isolated. A cordon remains in place at the property while forensic examination continues.
