Arthur Fery became the first wildcard and first player ranked outside the top 100 to reach the Wimbledon men's singles quarter-finals since Nick Kyrgios in 2014, defeating Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-7) on Centre Court on Tuesday. The 23-year-old is the last British player remaining in the Wimbledon singles draws.
Fery, currently ranked 114th in the world, will face Italian ninth seed Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. The run guarantees Fery at least £480,000 in prize money, and his ranking will rise to no lower than 63rd after the tournament.
Fery, who turns 24 on July 12, saved his best for a dramatic deciding-set tiebreak to complete the five-set victory over the Bulgarian veteran.
