A British man who hid inside a refrigerator to evade police arrest has been sentenced to three years in prison for a prolonged campaign of domestic abuse against his former partner. Dean Foord, 33, of Rochester, Kent, was jailed on 30 June 2026 after a court found him guilty of multiple offences stemming from six months of violent and coercive behaviour.
Foord subjected his ex-partner to months of abuse that included locking her in a room and forcing her to bark like a dog, Canterbury Crown Court heard. When officers arrived to arrest him in December 2025, he attempted to hide from police inside a fridge at his home.
He was convicted of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, threats to kill, common assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and possession of a class A drug. The victim had reported the abuse to authorities after enduring the ordeal for half a year.
