Sweden's meteorological agency has issued yellow warnings for flooding across eastern Norrbotten, covering the area from Piteå to Kalix and inland toward Boden, as heavy rainfall threatens the region from Monday, August 17, through midnight on August 20.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute also warned of downpour-like rain on Gotland, where the alert is in effect between 11:00 and 18:00 on Monday. The flooding warning for Norrbotten runs for the same period as the Gotland alert but spans several days, reflecting sustained precipitation risks in the north.
Yellow warnings indicate conditions that may pose risks to the public and cause disruptions to infrastructure and traffic. Residents in affected areas have been advised to monitor updates and take precautionary measures as the weather system moves through.
