Simon Levy, a serial sex offender convicted of murdering two women in London in 2025, was sentenced to a whole-life tariff on Wednesday at the Old Bailey, ensuring he will die in prison.
Levy, 40, smothered Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, in a partly disused tower block in March and killed Sheryl Wilkins, 39, in a Tottenham car park five months later. He was also convicted of raping, beating and suffocating a third woman in January 2025 and of sexually assaulting 10 women on London trains between 2023 and 2025.
The case has drawn scrutiny after the Crown Prosecution Service admitted it did not oppose bail at Levy's first court hearing following the first murder, allowing him to remain free before the second killing. The CPS, Metropolitan Police and British Transport Police have acknowledged errors in handling the case. The Independent Office for Police Conduct served a gross misconduct notice on a police constable and a misconduct notice on a detective sergeant.
