Schalke rout Hessen Kassel 5-0 in friendly but face injury worry over Gosens

Schalke 04 defeated fourth-tier Hessen Kassel 5-0 in a pre-season friendly on Friday, but the result was overshadowed by a potential thigh injury to new signing Robin Gosens, who was substituted in the 13th minute after being fouled in the opening moments of the match.

Kenan Karaman opened the scoring in the 36th minute before 18,737 spectators at the sold-out Auestadion, and Junior Adamu doubled the lead four minutes later. Second-half goals from Adil Aouchiche, Moussa Sylla and Satoshi Tanaka completed the rout. A final diagnosis on Gosens is expected Monday, with reports suggesting a possible multi-week absence.

The setback is a blow to Schalke's preparations ahead of their season opener against FC Augsburg on August 30. Gosens, who joined from Fiorentina, has been with the club for less than two weeks.
