Satellite imagery shows repair and reconstruction work at a military research complex in Parchin, Iran, raising questions about Tehran's compliance with a June memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.
CNN obtained exclusive images revealing activity at the Taleghan 2 facility within the Parchin military base between late June and early July. The Institute for Science and International Security also documented repairs at the Taleghan complex, while separately noting that imagery from June 21 showed vehicles entering and exiting a tunnel at the suspected underground nuclear site at镐山. Satellite provider Vantor had briefly withheld imagery of the area at the US government's request, CNN reported.
The Parchin activity calls into question the framework agreement between Iran and the US, signed on June 17. The two sides agreed to a memorandum of understanding, though CNN reports the recent construction raises doubts about whether Iran has violated its terms. No suspicious or visible activity was observed at nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, or Fordow.
