Portuguese President António José Seguro arrived in Cape Verde on Tuesday for his first state visit, launching a three-day trip aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across education, health, defence and maritime security. The visit opened with a wreath-laying at the Amílcar Cabral Memorial in Praia, followed by talks with Cape Verdean President José Maria Neves at the Presidential Palace and a joint press conference.
On Wednesday, Seguro is scheduled to address the National Assembly and open the Cape Verde–Portugal Economic Forum, with maritime security cooperation the focus of a working lunch. Both presidents will also lay wreaths at the Resistance Museum at the former Tarrafal concentration camp.
The trip concludes Thursday on Boa Vista island at the 5th International Conference on Blue Economy, before a farewell reception for Cape Verde's registered Portuguese community of 20,000 at the Portuguese School in Praia.
