Portugal's government has approved the 2026–2030 investment plan for the national high- and medium-voltage electricity distribution network, committing €1.58 billion ($1.74 billion) to upgrade infrastructure over the next four years.

The plan, submitted by grid operator E-Redes, represents a 50% increase in investment compared to the previous cycle. Roughly 45% of the funds will go toward grid modernization, 20% to reinforcing network reliability, 20% to electrification and decarbonization, and 15% to digitalization. The proposal received a favorable opinion from energy regulator ERSE before government approval.

The investment aims to strengthen the resilience of Portugal's electricity distribution system as the country pursues broader decarbonization goals.
