Pope Leo XIV will travel to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from November 6 to 17, the Vatican announced Wednesday, marking his sixth international trip since becoming pontiff and the first papal visit to Argentina and Uruguay in nearly four decades.
The Peruvian leg of the tour, running from November 11 to 17, will include stops in Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco and Pucallpa. A Vatican commission has already conducted advance visits to Pucallpa, Chiclayo and Cusco. Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori said the government will coordinate with the country's bishops' conference to prepare for the visit.
Leo XIV has deep ties to Peru, having served as bishop of Chiclayo from 2015 to 2023. The trip follows a scheduled visit to France from September 25 to 28.
