Pope Leo XIV warned Sunday that winds of war are blowing again across the Middle East, Ukraine, and other regions, calling on world leaders to pursue dialogue and diplomacy as the path to a just and lasting peace.

Speaking at his Sunday Angelus prayer in Castel Gandolfo, where he is staying on holiday until July 27, the pontiff renewed his appeal for encounter and negotiation over conflict. He renewed his hope that diplomacy would prevail in securing durable peace.

Marking Sea Sunday, the pope also turned his thoughts to sailors, fishermen, and port workers, and noted military conflicts in the Sea of Azov and the Strait of Hormuz as areas of particular concern.
