Poland will host the first military exercises by a "coalition of the willing" aimed at preparing real security guarantees for Ukraine and the region, with French, British and Polish troops taking part in the manoeuvres on Polish soil in autumn 2026, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced in Paris.
Warsaw is simultaneously preparing logistically and financially for a permanent allied troop presence, not only American but also French and British, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said. Separately, a negotiating team will be formed within days to discuss a permanent U.S. base in Poland, with Wielkopolska and Lower Silesia cited as the most likely sites, Defence Ministry official Cezary Tomczyk said.
In related military aid, Poland has transferred between three and nine Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine, with Washington pledging to replenish the stockpile multiples over should Poland face a threat.
