Germany will participate in the inaugural manoeuvres of the Ukraine-focused coalition of the willing, ending uncertainty over Berlin's involvement after the grouping first outlined its exercise plans earlier this week.
The decision is set to be formalised on Friday when the Franco-German Defence and Security Council discusses the deployment at its next session. The coalition of roughly 35 allied states agreed on Monday in Paris to hold the first joint drills on Polish territory.
The formation of the multinational force was originally agreed at a Ukraine summit in Berlin in December 2025, following earlier commitments by France, Britain and Poland to stage autumn exercises on Polish soil.
