Nvidia will invest up to $3 billion in Lancium, taking a significant stake in the power-infrastructure company as demand for data-center energy surges.
The chipmaker will commit an initial $2 billion for roughly 20% of Lancium, valuing the Blackstone-backed firm at about $10 billion, The Information reported citing people familiar with the matter. An additional $1 billion could follow if Lancium meets milestones including grid connections. The capital is expected to support Lancium's expansion as it prepares for a potential initial public offering in 2027. Lancium owns a 1,000-acre clean-energy campus in Abilene, Texas.
The investment deepens Nvidia's ties to the Stargate data-center venture, a joint initiative between SoftBank, OpenAI and Oracle that U.S. President Donald Trump announced in January with pledges of up to $500 billion.
