A teacher in his 40s from Akershus, Norway, has been remanded in custody for three weeks with a ban on correspondence and visits, charged with sexual relations with a child aged 14 to 16 and abuse of a position of authority. The charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred in 2019 involving one complainant who filed the report personally.
The man, who was arrested on July 29 and remanded on July 31, denies the charges but has provided a detailed statement and wishes to cooperate with police, according to his defense lawyer Tone Monclair. The alleged offenses took place during the victim's time at school, and the school in question has been notified.
The suspect had previously volunteered at a local church, which imposed a 12-month ban on him following earlier complaints of unwanted sexual behavior. Police have asked anyone with relevant information to come forward.
