Japanese frozen-food and logistics operator Nichirei plans to gradually resume affected operations from 17 July after a cyberattack that began on 13 July disrupted warehouse and shipment activities, though the company said a full recovery timeline remains unclear and it is preparing for a complete restart by next week.
The breach has continued to ripple across retail and food-service clients. Kura Sushi and KFC Japan suspended sales of some items, while Ezaki Glico reported shipment delays affecting roughly one-fifth of its ice cream products stored in Nichirei freezers. Supermarket operators AEON and Don Quijote also faced frozen-food shortages.
Nichirei, which established an emergency response headquarters, said personal information may have been exposed and filed an initial report with Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission. The company confirmed first-quarter earnings will still be released on 7 August as scheduled.
