MFE-MediaForEurope has launched a new organizational strategy for its Italian television operations, effective Wednesday, aimed at shortening the chain of command and clarifying executive responsibilities.
The boards of Mediaset and R.T.I. have approved a merger by absorption that will create a new entity called Mediaset Italia. Upon completion, Pier Silvio Berlusconi will serve as chairman and chief executive of the combined company, with Niccolò Querci as vice chairman.
The restructuring brings a wave of senior appointments. Sebastiano Lombardi was named director of flagship channel Canale 5, while Giancarlo Scheri takes on a deputy general management role overseeing networks, scheduling, and promotion. Giorgio Restelli and Giampaolo Letta assume deputy general management posts for entertainment and fiction, respectively. Mauro Crippa was confirmed as general manager for news and communications. Riccardo Siro Galli will lead a new operational marketing division, and Andrea Chinese heads a newly created promotion department.
