An Israeli drone strike on a vehicle in Deir al-Balah killed two senior Hamas security officials on Sunday, the latest targeted attack in the Gaza Strip.
Colonel Wael Musa al-Ladawi, head of Hamas internal security in central Gaza, and Major Ramez Tawfiq Abu Zureiq, 49, were killed when three missiles struck their vehicle. The Palestinian Red Crescent evacuated seven wounded people from the scene, and the bodies were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The killings come a day after Abdul Nasser al-Maqadma, Hamas police chief in northern Gaza, was killed in a separate Israeli air strike.
Israel has carried out near-daily attacks since an October 2025 ceasefire, killing more than 1,200 Palestinians. Gaza health authorities reported nine dead and 36 wounded in the 24 hours to Sunday. The violence follows the election of Khalil al-Hayya as Hamas's new leader earlier this week.
