Iran’s Energy Ministry has called on citizens to curb electricity use and switch off air conditioners during peak hours after US strikes damaged power infrastructure in the country’s south. Residents in affected provinces were asked to turn off cooling units for one hour between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to maintain grid stability as temperatures in southern Iran surpass 50 degrees Celsius.
Official Hossein Moghimi said transmission lines sustained severe damage in targeted strikes on strategic sites, particularly in the port city of Bandar Abbas, where explosions forced the evacuation of hundreds of patients from a hospital and caused power outages across parts of the city.
The energy appeal follows the latest wave of US military strikes targeting Iranian facilities, which were launched after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
