Iran has called for dialogue to end the renewed conflict between Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels, rejecting any military solution to the crisis. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the situation cannot be resolved through force and denied responsibility for the conflict, while a foreign ministry spokesperson urged the complete lifting of restrictions to allow Yemenis access to basic needs.
The fighting has escalated after a truce held since 2022. Houthi forces claimed missile attacks on Saudi cities, including strikes on Aramco oil facilities in Jizan and Yanbu, and announced a comprehensive naval blockade on Saudi shipping, including targeting two oil tankers in the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia intercepted two missiles headed for Yanbu and the Saudi-led coalition bombed Houthi positions in Hodeida.
U.S. President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for the Houthi attacks on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea.
