Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi declared all Saudi Arabian oil installations legitimate targets for missiles and drones if Riyadh escalates hostilities, in a televised address on July 16, 2026.
The threat follows a Saudi military strike on Sana'a airport on July 13, which the Houthis said was met with a retaliatory bombardment of Abha airport in southern Saudi Arabia. Al-Houthi characterised that response as insufficient and warned that Sana'a and Riyadh airports are now "linked in an equation," promising strikes on the Saudi capital's airport should operations against Sana'a continue.
Al-Houthi warned that all critical Saudi infrastructure would be targeted in the event of a large-scale Saudi aggression. The address aired on television as tensions between the Iran-aligned group and the Saudi-led coalition continue to rise.
