Kuwait's armed forces intercepted 21 drones and four cruise missiles that entered the country's airspace on July 15, the Ministry of Defence confirmed. Defence ministry spokesman Colonel Saud Abdulaziz al-Atuan said all incoming projectiles were neutralised. Material damage was sustained at vital installations, though no casualties were reported. Kuwait described the incident as a flagrant Iranian aggression.
The Kuwaiti army earlier issued warnings for residents to follow safety instructions as air defences engaged hostile rockets and drones.
The strike comes amid an escalation between Iran and the United States, after President Donald Trump ended a ceasefire with Tehran that had been in effect since June 17. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has directed airlines to avoid airspace over Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf of Oman due to heightened risk.
