German court rejects arrest warrant after railway worker falls from moving train

A court in Karlsruhe has rejected an arrest warrant for a 36-year-old man accused of assaulting a railway security worker who then fell from a regional train travelling at roughly 120 km/h on Friday evening. The suspect, who has prior convictions for violent offences and was on probation, was provisionally detained following the incident.

Surveillance footage from the train raised doubts about the precise sequence of events, and the Karlsruhe district court cited the video in declining to issue the warrant on charges of bodily harm.

The altercation began during a ticket check on the Alstom Coradia Continental service bound for Karlsruhe. During the struggle, the train door gave way and the 26-year-old employee fell out. He sustained serious injuries but is not in life-threatening condition.
