A French boy who was thrown from a balcony at the Tate Modern gallery in 2019 has been discharged from hospital and returned to school before the summer break, according to a family update.
The victim, who suffered life-changing injuries in the attack, will continue intensive rehabilitation including physiotherapy, speech therapy and neuropsychology. His recovery has included adaptive swimming lessons, mathematics tutoring, and planned activities such as a tandem paragliding flight and a seaside trip with friends. In April 2026, his family described a "sad step backward" in his recovery. A GoFundMe campaign for his care has raised more than £500,000.
Jonty Bravery was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 15 years for attempted murder. He has since received additional prison sentences for assaulting staff at Broadmoor Hospital, including a 16-week term for attacking two nurses in September 2024.
