Northern Ireland's fire service endured a punishing Eleventh Night, receiving 303 emergency calls between 6pm on July 11 and 2am on July 12 as bonfires burned across the region. Of 151 operational incidents attended, 54 were directly linked to bonfires, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said.
In Cookstown, County Tyrone, crews were forced to withdraw from a bonfire site due to a hostile crowd. In Greenisland, Carrickfergus, two homes were completely destroyed and two others damaged in a blaze that spread through terraced houses, oil tanks, and a shed.
Crews also responded to accidental house fires in Antrim and Coleraine, and an articulated lorry fire in Newry. Eleventh Night bonfires are an annual tradition marking the eve of the Twelfth of July commemorations.
