Tony Bartlett has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years for the murder of his four-week-old son, Atticus, following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.

The court found that Bartlett shook the infant at the family home in Chard, Somerset, on 16 July 2022, having consumed up to nine pints of beer beforehand. Atticus suffered severe internal injuries to his brain and spinal cord, along with three rib fractures. He collapsed at the property and died in hospital just before midnight on 23 July 2022, seven days after the attack.
